ABOUT

ABOUT LEORA DOWLING

Public Speaking & Communication Coach

"When I walked into that classroom I was so excited and confident. When I walked out I was humiliated and defeated. The memory hasn’t completely faded, but the sting has. In fact, I owe my career to that aggressive professor because that's when I vowed I would never feel that way again.

I dropped the class (cowardly, I know), and joined the college radio station (rather brave, considering). And I started to really pay attention. I discovered that effective speakers and communicators have three things in common: they’re confident, they connect, and they use their words, voices, and bodies comfortably. With persistence, practice, and generous teachers, I mastered the fine art of public speaking. I’d be honored to share what I’ve learned with you."

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS

I dread public speaking. Can you help?

Yes! You’ll eliminate fear and reduce anxiety by learning new ways to think about public speaking, your abilities, and your value to an audience.

Can you help me prepare an important presentation?

Absolutely! I’ll guide you from content to delivery. You’ll learn the latest planning, design, and presentation techniques to achieve your speaking goals.

I want to be a better speaker. What can I do?

You can make mindset changes, tell stories, hone your existing skills, learn new ones, update your image, and more.

How do you work exactly?

I meet clients in my Oak Park, IL office and we talk.

We discuss your past speaking experiences, audience psychology, your strengths and challenges, and your goals for the future. We work on self-confidence, an audience-centric approach to speaking, and how to use body language, storytelling, and your voice to present more effectively with less stress and more enjoyment.

What if I don’t live near Chicago?

Surprisingly, Zoom works! The past three years have taught me that connecting via camera is convenient, effective, and fun.

Do you do training and workshops for businesses and non-profits?

I do. My work is customized to your organization and combines group presentations with meeting employees individually.

What makes you different from other coaches?

I focus on my client's attitudes and mindset, not just their physical and vocal techniques. My approach centers around sharing knowledge, wisdom, and stories with a sense of gratitude, generosity, and perspective.

How much does it cost?

Packages start at $950. What you’ll learn will last a lifetime.

How long does it take?

I believe in the power of momentum. Ideally, we’ll meet every other week. Meeting one-on-one speeds things along significantly.
